The Aerial Video Mast was created to help in making videos from a higher perspective. We are a company that is passionate about filming youth development in sports. I am a dad who has children in sports and became more and more frustrated trying to film the games. I kept thinking there must better a better way to capture the game for better viewing. After a lot of research and expense in buying and trying items that didn’t work as well as I would like. I even duct taped a tripod on the top of a ladder, this proved to be very tiresome and dangerous!! We found that there is a common problem when filming a sports game at ground level. There isn’t any depth of field or perspective. The elevated view of the game captures the full depth of field and has the ability to see players moving around the field. This new tool has helped me support the teams that my daughter’s play on with video analysis of the games. I was also nice to help out fellow parent’s that couldn’t watch the game in person. We have found that the technology is available, but it is way too expensive for the average guy to buy and video the games. Most are also very large and may require an expensive SUV and a strong back to transport. They also take to long to setup and take down. We have come up with some solutions which we hope are useful to many enthusiasts like us. Advantages to our solutions: Low cost and light weight telescopic mast Compact and easy to transport, quick to setup and take down. (I have more than one child in competitive soccer and need to move quickly to the next game) Can be used with an existing video camera or with a still camera for Aerial photography as well The mast rotates and the head tilts to eliminate the need for a motorized pan tilt mechanism that generally can not keep up with live sports Stable and smooth with remote start/stop and zooming capabilities The remote mounted 10” HD monitor is much larger and easier to view than those found in typical camcorders and much easier to view. You (the videographer) are 30’ removed from the very sensitive mic on your camcorder. If you have filmed your child in a game —you know what I mean.
